This quiz, Nahum, looks at the city of Nineveh.
The thirty-fourth book in the Bible, and the seventh of the Minor Prophets, is the Book of Nahum. Nahum was from the town of Alqosh and, like the prophet Jonah 100 years before, spoke of Nineveh's coming punishment from God. After Jonah's visit the people of Nineveh had changed their ways and so avoided God's wrath. In the time of Nahum they had returned to their sinful lives. Nahum warns them that, despite their strength (Nineveh was the capital of Assyria, the most powerful nation at the time) God was more powerful still and He would destroy the Assyrian Kingdom very soon.
Nahum 1:2-3
"God is jealous, and the Lord revengeth;
the Lord revengeth, and is furious;
the Lord will take vengeance on his adversaries,
and he reserveth wrath for his enemies.
The Lord is slow to anger, and great in power,
and will not at all acquit the wicked:
the Lord hath his way in the whirlwind and in the storm,
and the clouds are the dust of his feet"
