Genre - Adventure Novels

In adventure novels an unusual event or a series of unusual and dangerous events happen to the protagonist. A fast pace is an important factor in an adventure novel and the danger is the focus of the story, almost a character in itself. The genre has been around since the time of the Ancient Greeks, with heroes such as Odysseus facing peril after peril. It endured throughout the middle ages in tales of knights and dragons, and entered the modern age in espionage novels, the James Bond series for example or The 39 Steps. Science fiction has also seen many an adventure novel, and stories of war are also a common backdrop for adventure. So too are fantasy worlds inhabited by monsters and sorcerers!
