II Chronicles
King Solomon was the richest of all the kings on earth.

II Chronicles

II Chronicles includes King Soloman.

The Second Book of Chronicles is the fourteenth book in the Bible. It covers the period from King Solomon's rule until the Israelites release from bondage in Babylon; a period of around 430 years. Unlike the Books of Kings, II Chronicles details only the history of Judah. It is an account of King David's family line through the kings of the southern kingdom and so the northern kingdom of Israel is rarely mentioned.

All quotations from the Bible are taken from the Authorised King James Version.
1 .
King Josiah spent the money which had been raised in taxes to have the temple renovated. During the renovation, what item was discovered in the temple?
A book of God's law
A golden sword
An angel
A brass serpent
II Chronicles 34:14
"And when they brought out the money that was brought into the house of the Lord, Hilkiah the priest found a book of the law of the Lord given by Moses."

Josiah worked hard to restore the worship of God and to remove the worship of Baal from his kingdom. He came to the throne when he was just eight years old
2 .
Ahab asked his prophets whether he would be safe in battle and all of them said that he would, until the prophet Micaiah revealed that God had made the prophets lie about this. What reward did Micaiah receive for his warning?
He was put to death
He was given a pile of gold
He was put in prison
He was given a great mansion
II Chronicles 18:26-27
"and say, Thus saith the king, Put this fellow in the prison, and feed him with bread of affliction and with water of affliction, until I return in peace. And Micaiah said, If thou certainly return in peace, then hath not the Lord spoken by me. And he said, Hearken, all ye people."

Micaiah was, of course, right. King Ahab died in the battle and his blood was licked by dogs, just as the prophet Elijah had foretold
3 .
When Solomon's son Rehoboam was king of Judah, his kingdom was attacked by which people?
Judah was attacked by the Egyptians
Judah was attacked by the Assyrians
Judah was attacked by the Babylonians

Because Rehoboam had neglected God's commandments, God allowed the Egyptian King Shishak to ransack Jerusalem. But because the king of Judah turned back to God, the city was not destroyed.

II Chronicles 12:6-7
"Whereupon the princes of Israel and the king humbled themselves; and they said, The Lord is righteous. And when the Lord saw that they humbled themselves, the word of the Lord came to Shemaiah, saying, They have humbled themselves; therefore I will not destroy them, but I will grant them some deliverance; and my wrath shall not be poured out upon Jerusalem by the hand of Shishak"
4 .
King Solomon was the richest of all the kings on earth. Every year he received how much gold?

About 10 tons of gold
About 15 tons of gold
About 20 tons of gold

666 talents of gold is 19.66 tons - that's a lot of gold!

"So they established a decree to make proclamation throughout all Israel, from Beer-sheba even to Dan, that they should come to keep the passover unto the Lord God of Israel at Jerusalem: for they had not done it of a long time in such sort as it was written."

Hezekiah also reopened the temple, which had been closed during the reign of his father, and abolished idolatry in his kingdom
7 .

Cyrus, who was king of Persia from 559-530 BC, conquered Babylon and freed the Jews who were there. Cyrus commanded the largest empire that the world had ever seen
8 .
As punishment for their sin, the people of Judah were taken as captives to Babylon. For how long did they remain there?
For 17 years
For 70 years
For 170 years

The prophet Jeremiah had said that the land must rest for seventy years to make up for the years when the people refused to observe the Sabbath.

II Chronicles 36:21
"to fulfil the word of the Lord by the mouth of Jeremiah, until the land had enjoyed her sabbaths: for as long as she lay desolate she kept sabbath, to fulfil threescore and ten years"
