Grade 1 - Rests

A rest is where the music is silent!

As well as keeping track of the different types of notes in a piece of music you also have to understand something called 'rests' - the gaps where no music is played. Each type of note has its own type of rest and it is important to be able to recognise them so that the music is played correctly. You may end up losing counts if you don't pay attention to rests!
