Lewis Carroll's Alice's Adventures in Wonderland and Through the Looking Glass were published in the latter half of the century and other classics such as Robert Louis Stevenson's Treasure Island and Rudyard Kipling’s The Jungle Book rounded off this golden age of children’s literature.
