Vocabulary - A Smorgasbord of Words (Part 3)

This Spanish Difficult Review quiz is the third of four quizzes designed to randomly test your memory on Spanish vocabulary. The two previous quizzes included Vocabulary: A Smorgasbord of Words! (Part 1) and Vocabulary: A Smorgasbord of Words! (Part 2). Each quiz contains a random set of quiz questions or problems, some of which are related while others are totally non-related.

You are now at the point of your Spanish learning journey where you really need to start practicing not only Spanish words but learning how to read and write in Spanish. That means being able to quickly translate from English to Spanish and/or Spanish to English rather quickly, without really even having to consciously think about it.

The first answer means trash. The second answer means pheasant. The third answer means seagull and the last answer means swan. A pheasant, a seagull and a swan are all related as they are birds. Trash is not related to the others.

The first answer means blind. The third answer means short. The last answer means flat. Neither of these is the opposition of young. However, the second answer means old and that is the opposite of young.

I am looking at a cortina, an entresuelo and a reflector. Where am I?

A cortina is a curtain. An entresuelo is a mezzanine. A reflector is a spotlight. These are all found in a theater. The Spanish word for theater is teatro.

The first answer means cougar. The second answer means luggage. The third answer means stewardess and the last answer means suitcase. You would normally see luggage, a stewardess and a suitcase at an airport. You would not normally see a cougar at an airport.

He ate a sandwich of jam and turkey.

The given sentence is using a past tense verb (made). The first and second answers show a present tense verb form so neither of them is correct. In addition, the second and last answers show the verb of give. The third answer reads: Nelly made a Christmas doll.

Each answer has correctly translated Michael and the class a story. However, the first answer reads: Michael found the class a story. The second answer reads: Michael read the class a story. The third answer reads: Michael prayed the class a story. Finally, the last answer reads: Michael told the class a story.
