Grade 2 Language - Root Words

Even though students are taught to remember prefixes and suffixes, they should also remember root word meanings as well. Remembering root word meanings allows students to learn unknown words. They will use common words that they already know in learning new words. They will be able to isolate the root word and then figure out the suffix or prefix of the word. In this quiz, the students will determine the meaning of a word using common words.
