Grade 1 Reading Foundation - Accuracy, Rate and Expression

This English Language quiz is called 'Accuracy, Rate and Expression' and it has been written by teachers to help you if you are studying the subject at elementary school. Playing educational quizzes is a fun way to learn if you are in the 1st or 2nd grade - aged 6 to 8.

When students read, they need to pronounce the words accurately in order to gain the full meaning of the words. They also need to practice reading at an appropriate rate. Also, the students need to use the correct expression when reading. When students begin their reading using these techniques and continue to use them, they should be able to become better readers. In this quiz, the students will practice reading stories and answering questions while incorporating these skills.

Story 1 - Bike Race

Tim gets on his bike. He rides it down the street. He waves to his friend. Bob gets on his bike too. They ride to the park. Bob asks Tim to race. The boys race with their bikes. They go fast in the park. The birds fly out of the way. Bob gets to the end. Then Tim gets to the end. Bob wins their race.

Story 2 - Sick

People get sick. They will feel bad. Their head may hurt. Their nose may run. They may have a cold. People will have to stay home.

People want to get better. They will have to take pills. People have to sleep a lot. They must drink lots of water. Then they will feel better.
