Daniel Brown was born in New Hampshire in 1964. He left college in 1986 with a degree in English and Spanish and then embarked on a career as a musician. Unfortunately this never took off and by 1993 he was working as a full time teacher. It was then that he turned his hand to writing.
Brown’s first novel, Digital Fortress, was published in 1998 but he is probably most famous for his series of books featuring Robert Langdon, among them Angels & Demons and the controversial The Da Vinci Code. These follow a set formula reminiscent of a treasure hunt featuring a series of puzzles to be solved. With the help of his former wife he has also written some humorous books including 187 Men to Avoid: A Survival Guide for the Romantically Frustrated Woman.
