"Sometimes you can't look up the correct spelling of a word in the dictionary because you don't know how to spell it."

Do your teachers ever tell you to look up a word in a dictionary when you don't know how to spell it? This can be very difficult, especially when you're not sure of even the first or second letter....but it is a good way for teachers to encourage you to spend time just browsing through words. You can come across some interesting vocabulary this way and even make a point of using newly discovered words in your own writing. Of course, people who aren't sure how to spell a word are often more likely to try searching for the word on the internet instead, just to see if Google recognises the word and suggests the correct spelling! Googling is certainly quicker, but might not introduce you to the same intriguing vocabulary you can stumble across in a dictionary.
