William is Conleth's grandfather
Conleth is Emmett's uncle
Alistair is William's brother

Read the following statement, then choose the correct answer from the four choices available.

Clara, Mark, Jenny and Joe all went to a car boot sale. Only the boys and Jenny bought a hat and Clara was the only girl not to buy a hairclip. Everyone bought a badge and the only the two girls bought a book. Using this information decide which of the following statements is true.
Mark bought most things
Clara bought most things
Jenny bought most things
Joe bought least things
This is because we are told she bought a hat and that the only girl not to buy a hairclip was Clara. Jenny also bought a book and everyone bought a badge. Nobody else bought all four things!
2 .
Read the following statement, then choose the correct answer from the four choices available.

David is 1 year older than Lauren was 3 years ago. Lauren is four years older than Alyssa. Alyssa is 10. Lee-Ping is 3 years older than half of David's age. Using this information decide which of the following statements is true.
David is the second oldest
Lee-Ping is the second oldest
Alyssa is the second oldest
Lauren is the second oldest
This is because if we work out the ages of all the children we find that Lauren is 14 (4 years older than Alyssa) and Alyssa is 10, David is 12 (1 year older than Lauren was 3 years ago) and Lee-Ping is 9 (3 years older than half of David's age. So, David is the second oldest, at 12!
3 .
Read the following statement, then choose the correct answer from the four choices available.

At a craft day four children take part in three different activities. Alexander does paper-folding and one other activity. John takes part in two activities but not paper-folding. Brianna does not do glass-painting but does paper-folding and one other activity. Kayla does glass-painting and shares one other activity with Alexander and another with John. The only activity John and Alexander share is glass-painting. The only activity Brianna and John share is t-shirt design. Using this information decide which of the following statements is true.
Brianna does all three activities
Kayla does all three activities
Alexander does t-shirt design
John does paper-folding
This is because we are told she does glass-painting and shares one activity with Alexander and another with John. The only way this could happen is if she does both paper-folding and t-shirt design
4 .
Read the following statement, then choose the correct answer from the four choices available.

It takes James half as long to cycle to the shops as it takes Jessica. Taylor takes 2 minutes less than Ling. Ling takes 4 minutes longer than Jessica to get there. Jessica takes 6 minutes to get from her house to the shops. All the children leave their homes at the same time. Using this information decide which of the following statements is true.
James arrives last
Jessica arrives last
Taylor arrives last
Ling arrives last
This is because she takes 10 minutes (2 minutes more than Taylor and 4 minutes longer than Jessica). We also know that James is twice as fast as Jessica, so Ling must be last!
5 .
Read the following statement, then choose the correct answer from the four choices available.

Zachary often visits his cousin Jessica, who lives with her father Brandon. Anna is Brandon's sister. Using this information decide which of the following statements is true.
Zachary is Anna's brother
Zachary is not Brandon's nephew
Zachary's mum or dad has the same parents as Brandon
Zachary is Brandon's son
This is because to be Jessica's cousin, they must share grandparents. For this to happen, one of Zachary's parents must be a brother or a sister to one of Jessica's parents
6 .
Read the following statement, then choose the correct answer from the four choices available.

Getting ready to go to their new Secondary School a group of children go to the shops for items for their pencil cases. Akbhar buys a ruler and a pencil sharpener but doesn't need colouring pencils. Samuel buys a ruler and colouring pencils but doesn't need a pencil sharpener. Natalie buys the only item shared by Akbhar and Samuel and colouring pencils. Victoria buys colouring pencils and the only item Natalie doesn't buy. Using this information decide which of the following statements is true.
Samuel and Natalie buy exactly the same items
Victoria and Akbhar buy exactly the same things
Natalie and Akbhar buy exactly the same things
Samuel and Victoria buy exactly the same things
This is because we are told that he buys colouring pencils and so does she. She also buys the only item shared by Akbhar and Samuel, which is a ruler
7 .
Read the following statement, then choose the correct answer from the four choices available.

The teacher asks four children to line up, according to age, with the oldest at the front. Christian was behind Benjamin, but in front of Chloe. Sydney was in between Benjamin and Christian. Chloe was at the back of the line. Read the following statement, and then choose the correct answer from the four choices available.
Christian was second from the front
Sydney was second from the front
Benjamin was second from the front
Chloe was second from the front
This is because we know the order the children were in if we think of Chloe at the back, Christian in front of her, Sydney in front of him and Benjamin at the front. We know Christian couldn't be at the front (because he was behind Benjamin) and Sydney couldn't be at the front, (because she was between Benjamin and Christian). This puts Benjamin at the front, Sydney next and Chloe last. So Sydney was second from the front
8 .
Read the following statement, then choose the correct answer from the four choices available.

Four children were doing 11+ revision quizzes. They were working on Number Series, 2 Odd Ones Out and Hidden Words, but had completed different quizzes in a different order. Justin had finished Number Series, and one other quiz, while Jasmine had finished 2 Odd Ones Out. Nathan and Justin had completed 2 Odd Ones Out. Hailey had completed all three quizzes. Neither Nathan nor Jasmine had finished Hidden Word. Justin had completed a quiz which nobody else except Hailey had completed. Using this information decide which of the following statements is true.
Justin had not finished Hidden Word
Jasmine had finished Hidden Word
Nathan had finished Hidden Word
Hailey had not finished Hidden Word
This is because we are told 'Justin had finished Number Series, and one other quiz' and that 'Nathan and Justin had completed 2 Odd Ones Out'. This only leaves Hidden Word incomplete for Justin
9 .
Read the following statement, then choose the correct answer from the four choices available.

Four children had a competition to see who could hold their breath underwater for the longest. Morgan lasted for 56 seconds, which was 4 seconds longer than Logan, and twice as long as Rachel. Jose lasted just 26 seconds. Jose lasted the shortest time. Using this information decide which of the following statements is true.
Logan came second
Morgan came second
Jose came second
Rachel came second
This is because we know Jose was (at 26 seconds) in last place, and that Morgan beat Logan and Rachel. We also know that Logan was only 4 seconds behind Morgan
